Gratitude, the Acronym

The book jacket of my latest book, GRATEFUL, features an acronym that deftly explains my affection for writing Letters of Gratitude. The interesting thing is when I created the acronym, I had written some 170 letters. Now that pile has increased by some fifty letters, as I've written in excess of 225!

Growing up among writers, published or otherwise, shaped my outlook.

Reaching out, in longhand, on stationery, with a thank you note, was de rigueur.

Admittedly, this style of communication is now considered passé.

Taking the time to write, stamp and mail seems like the product of a bygone era.

Instagram, TikTok, Twitter and all forms of social media have their place.

Though there is something more permanent, almost ceremonial, about receiving a letter by mail.

Unusual, yes. But completely out of fashion? Not now, or ever.

Deciding to share thoughts and feelings in this manner requires more effort.

Enriching is the ideal word to describe this hobby, which has taken on a life of its own.
